Wedding Cheer, Autumn’s Here…

| Articles | 20th October, 2014

I love this time of year, as the evenings draw in and colours are changing. I’ve always thought autumn wedding should have a touch of nature in them as there so much you can draw from it at this time of year.

With golden leaves to the beautiful orange of the wild flower Montbretia there is inspiration all around. Another thing this time of year reminds me of is warm cosy fires and as candles are lovely at a wedding this is something you can really maximize on with little cost.

So here’s something to get started on. These are my take on an idea not everyone would like this but it might give you inspiration for something similar.

Actually used old jam jars as had a better shape and cheaper !

STUFF YOU NEED

  • Glass Jars – As many as you need to spell your word of choice. You could do you initials – T & P or MR & MRS
  • Hessian Sacking – 1/2 metre will go a long way
  • Orange Felt square – you can buy letters in felt or or fabrics if you don’t want to cut them out (I know my O isn’t great actually quite a hard one!)
  • Can of spray on glue – So easy to use and will last ages, comes in handy.

STEP 1:  First I simply cut out an oblong of width of hessian the width of a jar, then I sprayed the jar with clue and  then stuck on the hessian,

I cut my hessian quite roughly for a rustic look, as personal preference.

STEP 2:  I then printed off some letters to use as a template,  you cut them out and then cut round them on the fabric, if you want to draw letter on fabric do it on back so doesn’t show any pen marks on front. As I said before you can buy letters in fabric, art or craft shops, they cost more but if your only doing few then probably easier.

Once you have letters done, lay them done back to front (very important for gluing !) quick spray of glue and then put on jars.

Great thing with spray glue they can be moved about if you do it quickly to check all letter are where you want them and you don’t see the glue marks!

That’s it done, you could add some twine around top of the jar or ribbon. My best advice is play around with different ideas to see what works best for you.
